Sport and outdoor activities for inclusion" is an 8-days long training course that will be held from 8th to 16th November 2012 in Orahovica, Croatia. The training course will gather 26 participants from 11 partner organisations from 9 countries (Italy, Iceland, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Turkey, Czech Republic and Romania).
Themes of the project are using sport and outdoor activities for non-formal learning in the anti-discrimination youth projects with marginalised groups, against social exclusion.
Project aims at empowering youth workers for active promotion of combating social exclusion; empowering them in creativity and innovation when using sport/outdoor activities for social inclusion and thus through their work encourage quality exchange between mainstream young people and the ones from marginalised groups; allowing for exchange of practices among youth workers from different countries on marginalisation and social volunteering for inclusion; developing more local and YiA projects using sport/outdoor activities towards more inclusive society.
Some of the specific objectives of the project are:
•Define sports and share realities about sports in our countries
•Discuss differences and similarities between sport and youth work
•Define and encourage the “sports for all” – healthy lifestyle
•Understand the methodology of using sports as educational method in reaching goals of personal development (both mental and physical) of youth
•Define our target groups of youth with fewer opportunities in our youth work activities
•Discuss how can sport as a method lead to inclusion
•Discuss benefits of and barriers to sport for this target group (youth with fewer opportunities)
•Develop different possible sport and outdoor methods and activities for working with youth with fewer opportunities
• Developing new Youth in Action projects with the methodology of sports and outdoor activities connected to inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities.
